Hi,I use DSL router to connect to the internet. All ports of the router are in stealth mode and ICMP is also blocked (I checked that at grc.com).Then there's ufw making all ports stealth on the OS side. Despite the router configured in stealth mode I see ufw blocking incoming connections when I do dmesg | tail which means the router's firewall is not all that effective.The number of attempts increases greatly when I am torrenting. I am bit concerned about this.So I was thinking should I run Transmission inside Virtualbox ?

Hey I have an old laptop (HP Elitebook - i5 3rd gen/8GB) - which, running windows 10 and has 2 drives plugged internally totaling about 4 TB of storage. It is wired to my router (netgear dngd3700v2) using a cat 5e cable.
Currently I have been facing sluggish Smb performance and I just want to reorganize everything and improve the performance and hence I was thinking about alternative OS for my server. Also I will also host 2-3 very light weight websites on that server in the future.
I want a OS that will deliver performance , and fulfill my needs for
Media Server - Plex
File Sharing - Preferable SMB - because I find it convenient
Web Hosting for 2-3 very light Wordpress websites (Future Project)
Time Machine Backup for my main machine - MacBook Pro 2016.

I’m not into CLI much , but I can work with basic commands and other too if documented in details.
